Well yeah, the problem is Octopus are so well regarded because they're on it. If there's a problem, they get back to you quickly and resolve it. But that responsiveness goes both ways. If you create a problem, by say not paying your bill on time, they will be right on that as well. It's good you have a great record on paying on time, presumably you wouldn't want that record compromised by them recording a late payment on your credit file? So yeah, they chased you to give you the chance to pay.
You may be better off with another company who are less proactive. They'll probably care less about you being a few days late paying a bill (or might not chase, but just report it as a late payment) but they'll also be slower when you actually want something fixed.1
