May weather - eastern Costa del Sol

Has anybody experience of the Torrox/Nerja area weather early May ?
We want to avoid July and August - too hot last summer.

  • Never been there, but as Google says ( which is much better than this non-meteorological forum) : "Days are usually hot with balmy evenings, so visitors should pack light and cool clothing. The average daily maximum is 28 C and the average daily minimum is 11 C." It goes on to say that you'll miss the teeming hordes of summer tourists, which sounds a real plus to me ! Have a nice time......

I was in the Algarve in mid April this year and it was very pleasant.  Locals said it was the first warm and sunny week after the winter period, mid 20 degrees, by May it will be touching 30.  Costa Del Sol should be similar.

I've been to that area in May (and other months), it'll almost certainly be at least pleasantly warm, possibly getting towards hot. Probably a little warmer than the Algarve as it doesn't have the cooling influence of the Atlantic ocean. Although the locals might be a bit reluctant I've swum in the sea from Playa Burriana at Nerja in May without any problem.

We have been to that area the last two Easters and the weather has been delightful.
Warm enough to laze and relax poolside.
Cool enough to be active or stroll into town without getting too exhausted.
Nerja is really nice - never been to Torrox but it is somewhere we always say we will visit.

Thanks for putting the question - you've reminded me that we should start thinking about making our booking for next year.

    Thanks all.
I'm onside for May, however Her Ladyship needs gentle persuasion, hence second opinions.
Update, to bring closure - after some reassurance based on "user opinions" we have booked for early May, got a really attractive price from TUI on our favourite HB hotel - indeed, costing much the same for 10 nights as for 7 nights later in the month.
