Can you use the 0% credit card to pay off your mortgage or move money to your account?

The stoozing guide just says to use the card for your daily spending. The thing is, I don't spend and the biggest expense by far is my mortgage. Can't I use the 0% credit card to pay off my monthly mortgage payments somehow? I know withdrawing cash is not allowed (will incur interest) but that's not the same is it?

Actually it can be the same - sometimes.  You need to be wary, it will sometimes be classed as a cash withdrawal (or what they call a cash-like transaction).  Unfortunately it can be tricky to find out for certain, and different cards have slightly different rules - I guess you could try calling your card company and asking them.
The other potential issue is whether your mortgage company would accept payment by credit card anyway - again, you'd need to check directly with them.

You would need to look for a card with Money Transfer offer, rather than balance transfer..
That allows you to transfer a amount to your bank account & use as you wish.

It's unlikely your mortgage provider would accept payments directly from a credit card, and if they do it's very likely to be treated as a "cash-like" transaction on your card and potentially incur fees and interest.

Your best option is probably a "Money Transfer" from the credit card (if it allows this) to your bank account, then use this to overpay the mortgage, but again this may incur fees and interest depending on the card.

You may find your utility providers (gas, electricity, water) and council tax will accept credit card payments. Not all do, of course, but worth looking into as an option.
  • Thanks everyone. The Moneysavingexpert tool showed me some 0% credit cards but without mentioning "money transfer". I did a search for a money transfer credit card on money.co.uk but the ones I got didn't have 0% APR. So I guess stoozing only makes sense for daily expenses for me.
