Eon Next Warrant

Yes, they installed a PP Smart Meter instead of a traditional one Card PP Meter. Registering next day wasn't easy either.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,did they change the meter?
I am the lady of Neph.
The issue is also the asbestos flying around the house. I was told for years - it had to be done carefully by literally half emptying the living room and cover furniture.
They just tossed things around when they raided the living room to get into the meter board.
We agreed in September that they call us 48 hrs prior to change the meter. It was recorded by them.1 -
Have you been paying estimated bills for the past 6 years?
Now the new smart meter is in make sure you review your usage and if you have been overcharged make sure that is something you follow up once you have a year's usage under your belt.
As others have said raise a complaint with Eon and then escalate with the ombudsman 8 weeks later or when eon issue a deadlock letter.
Be non emotional and just factual.
List key dates/communication/what was agreed etc

Thanks for your comment.MeteredOut said:First thing, get a complaint opened with Eon (of not already done). This starts the 8 week clock ticking so you can take this to the Energy Ombudsman. On the basis of how you've described things, Eon have truly screwed up here and unless you somehow manage to get to speak to someone who actually cares/has any authority, you're only likely to get somewhere via the Ombusdman.
Did the forced entry cause any damage? Did they actually gain entry? Did they do anything if they did gain entry?
I am the lady of the original Blog Poster.
My opposite neighbour messaged me on WhatsApp that Eon/ group of 5 men trying to gain entry. She tried to stop them because she knows I have a vulnerable autistic / type 1 diabetic young adult in the house. She was concerned about my daughter. They refused to talk to her or me via her phone. By then they already forced entry with a help of a hired locksmith.
I had a panic attack 50 miles away. It took us 2 hrs to get there. They already removed the old meter mounted on asbestos !! ( without protection cover ) The place was a mess as the living room is tiny.
They did the job which could have been done back in 2019, 2020, 2021 because of health and safety ?!? ( We had at least 5 appointments but none could do it ... )
We agreed in September that they give us 48 hrs notice because I have vulnerable young adult in the house who is terrified of strangers in the house and she needed to be somewhere else under supervision.
48 hrs notice is also in the guidelines / protocol.
This asbestos specialist guy travelled from Yorkshire to South Essex to do the job but it was easier to obtain a Warrant for Entry than calling me on Friday to arrange this meter change on Monday morning.
Offgem is involved, they were actually very helpful despite their bad reputation.
The complainant procedure started - I will probably take them court because of Health and Safety issues disregarded on many levels. ( Asbestos, Vulnerable Disabled young adult in the household... )

Have it been checked/determined whether asbestos was disturbed to the extent that the home could no longer be habitable without a clean-up?0

I thought all warrants of entry for prepayment meters were paused?
I was told yesterday by an eon rep that they're not changing meters at the moment.0 -

But nothing will happen until approval has been given by energy regulator Ofgem.

Supposedly yes they were, although in this case this isn’t a forced prepayment install due to debt (what the whole prepayment “scandal” that prompted the pause was about), but rather a replacement of a meter that’s been dead in the water for a number of years. Suppliers have a responsibility to ensure metering equipment is functioning properly, so it would be perfectly possible to obtain a warrant for this purpose.tifo said:I thought all warrants of entry for prepayment meters were paused?

Doesn’t make Eon’s actions remotely acceptable though, of course, especially as this is someone who has clearly been trying to cooperate and get a replacement from the start despite multiple failings on Eon’s part.Moo…2
