Insta360 X3 camera 'SD card too slow' error message

Just bought an Insta360 x3 for our holiday and made sure we bought a micro SD card with rating of V30 as per the instructions.  Tried it today and kept getting the error message 'SD card too slow' and it not storing anything we shot.  Thankfully we were just trialling it on our dog walk.

Does anyone know what the issue could be please?  I looked for micro SD cards with a V60 rating but very few available, plus the V30 rated ones should work?

Where did you get the card from? There are an awful lot of fake and purposely mislabelled cards around

    Have you got a link?

Chances are the vendor supplied the card and it's fake

Amazon and eBay are the worst places to buy sd cards and flash drives as they are often fake

Had a quick look on the insta360 website , the sd cards they supply have the insta360 logo in yellow on them.

Do yours? As amazon vendors are supplying the camera at the same price as Insta360 , I would bet good money those sd cards are fake to drag you in.

Throw that sd card in the bin buy from a reputable supplier (not amazon or ebay) and consider using the manufacturers website next time , it's now going to cost you the same if you had bought from them anyway, oh don't forget to leave a honest review for the amazon vendor

The V30 stuff is designed for recording videos, in particular 4k.

If you're just taking photos on it, you only really need a Class 10 card.

This seems to be a common problem with this device and may be related to a firmware issue, you may want to try updating the firmware (there is one dated 2023-09-08 but its likely what you have is a version or two older than that).  Somebody from Reddit suggets format the SD card on your computer (not a quick format) and it'll be fine after that.  Goodness knows why but...?
