How much trace and access coverage to do I need - 10k or 25k?

Hello,
Rang my home insurer to tell them I don't want to renew due to cheaper quote with rival. They said the rival only covers £10k for trace and access of water leaks, whilst they cover £25k. They claimed most claims cost substantially more than 10k. I could not find out much on google....does someone know whether this is correct or not that I would need to insure for a lot more than 10k coverage?
Thanks,
Mark

Admiral state their average T&A claim was £463 as at November 2022
Most claims are very small because it's much more "access" than it is "trace". They can become much bigger when the source isn't obvious and pipes are in concrete or such but these are more the exception than the rule0 -
Take the new deal and forget what your present insurers are telling you---I don't believe them.0

It all depends on your house. Is it old, is it big, have you been there long and had worked done in the past where builders have struggled with locating other pipework?
My gut says £10k is sufficient for most houses and incidents. If the insurer is stating the avg claim is higher ask them to supply data.

ok thanks. The house is a big detached house (1980's, so not old), we have been here 1 year. No idea if builders have struggled to locate pipes in the past.0
