    Bet your house looked good though with fresh plaster!

    Builder has now put in a dehumidifier, with the outlet linked to the drain, rather than a tank.

    Can you explain the science where the outside humidity being higher still means the plaster dries with the window open? I would have thought it would be the same as having a radiator on with the window wide open ie the heat escapes. Surely with higher humidity outside, the humidity inside increases??

    It's usually only the relative humidity outside that's higher at this time of the year. The absolute humidity is normally much lower.
  • The plasterer, i use, asks me not to use the humidifier here, he always wants it to dry naturally.

    Yes I’ve heard that too.

    that’s why I just use a fan rather than anything more aggressive.
