Morrisons Click and Collect Experience

I have previously only ever had Tesco deliveries. They are/ were the only supermarket to deliver in this area. This ceased a few week ago when a landslide took the road away and Tesco can no longer get here without a huge diversion. It will be many months before the road is reinstated, and Tesco has very kindly refunded in full my annual Delivery Saver subscription ( only just renewed and not used)
Morrisons took over McColl’s a while back so offer a click and collect service from their McColl’s car park. This is only 4 miles away so pretty convenient to get to .

Today was my first experience and I have to say I’m very disappointed. There were numerous substitutions. Many were downsized - examples being:
12 cans of tonic instead of 24,
40 teabags instead of 80,
Half bottle of whisky instead of full bottle,
2 small lamb steaks instead of a whole leg,
chicken ready meal for one instead of duck starter for 6
then the more bizarre
celery to replace lemon grass!

There were others too, that seemed vaguely reasonable. In total there were 12 subs.
I accepted everything as I couldn’t deal with sorting through and giving stuff back to the poor driver. Nothing will go to waste, I will just have to shop again sooner than planned.

But I’ve just checked through their website. I can see no where that you can opt out of substitutions like you can with Tesco. In addition you don’t get notified of the substitutions until the order is ready for collection. With Tesco I used to get the receipt at 9 in the morning and could check it at leisure to decide if there was anything I found unacceptable, even when the delivery was in the afternoon.
I’m feeling irritated and annoyed by the whole experience today when I know I should be grateful that we didn’t have to drive the 65 miles it now is to get to Tesco! I guess I will get used to their way of working…
