New bathroom installation

Hello, I've now saved enough to replace the bathroom in my bungalow.

Could anyone advise as to how I go about it please?

We employed a plumber on recommendation from our residents' Facebook group. He advertised as a bathroom designer/solutions company. He was able to project manage and sub contract to tiler, electrician etc. All we had to do was choose the suite, colour schemes, flooring etc.

    It wasn't cheap but effortless.

Thank you @maman.  I do need a good plumber as when I moved in, the shower pipe waste went to the shared drain at the front of the bungalow, I thought it odd.  I've just had my soffits/gutters replaced and apparently this drain is blocked - the builder has put a long pipe onto the shared hopper into the neighbour's garden.

Start getting some quotes. (Minimum 3)
We started with Wickes. Give them a vague idea of what you want and they will help. Wickes will do supply and fit.

We also got quotes from some local fitters recommended on local Facebook group/neighbour's. They seem to come and measure up get an idea of what you want and give you a price for fitting and will give you the name of a supplier they get discount from. You then go to the supplier and tell them your fitter sent you and they will help you select what you want and they will give you the fitters discount (the fitter will get a cut too) then you can put both parts of the quote together and see.

We found the local fitters to be cheaper than Wickes, but Wickes will guarantee for 2 years.

Be wary of any local fitters who can fit you in quickly. Expect at least a 3 month wait.

Also the price of this stuff has gone up a lot with demand and inflation over the last couple of years.. so get ready for a shock

If you have a branch of City Plumbing close by, might be worth popping in and see what they can do in terms of supply. They'll also have a list of preferred plumbers/fitters they can recommend. But I can't pass judgement on those (I've only used City Plumbing for plumbing & gas boiler bits).
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Thank you @FreeBear, amazingly there is one only about ten miles away!

  • I recommend you to go with freelancers. I have good experience with EA Mobility. eamobility.com Check them out.

I have heard, recently they started offering life time warranty. As it is your hard earned and saved money. This might help.

Cheers! Let me know your updates.
