How high do you hang a curtain pole when near coving

Good afternoon to you,
I am replacing a pelmet and curtains and replacing them with a more modern pole.
I have purchased a really light weight pole together with light weight nets to look to see if I will get away with using the same hole the pelmet boards were attached to. I have two options, a lower hole or a higher. The picture shown below is the lower hole with a puny rail! Am a bit exhausted today now to show you the difference but what do we think of the lower hole pole positioning please? (If i put it on the higher hole the lower hole marks are more visible , hence i thought i may try this first!). Plus would the pole fight with the coving if i put it higher with the curtains ‘kissing’ the bottom of the coing’
Many Thanks in advance to all you fashionable people who know about such things!

How does the height of the pole affect the length of the curtains?I am lazy and would use the existing holes (and think it looks fine)Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

As you've already got it up I would leave it - why cause yourself more work? It looks fine to me anyway, so I would not worry about it.1

I havent purchased the real curtains yet so can adjust to suit. I too am a little lazy, however it bothers me later if things dont look quote right as I spend most of my days inside.1

Personally if I was going from scratch (which I will be in the next couple of weeks), I'd go a bit lower than your pole, so I certainly wouldn't be going any higher. We tend to go half way between the bottom of the coving, and the top of the window reveal.

You've just had me walking around my home checking where our curtain poles are! 🤣
Half way between the coving and window seems typical but it varies. One is immediately above the window.
As you're self confessed lazy @GoldenOldy, I'd leave the pole where it is.
Personally, I'd have really long curtains too as I like them pooling on the floor for unlined curtains so no need to adjust, although these could be a trip hazard so wouldn't suit everyone.1 -
Thankyou Slinky. Maman, you have just made me laugh! Thankyou for going to the trouble of looking at yours and for your insight. Much appreciated indeed!0

Indeed I didn't even have to walk roundMine are just where the builders left them 20yrs ago and half way between top of window and coving.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
