Just to say that we have just checked our bill and have got exactly the same problem. For the 8 Cctober there is a smart meter reading that looks accurate (1705), there is then another line for 'last read on old billing system' and a wildly higher number (2818). If correct it would mean that we used more gas on 8 October than in the whole of last winter! Have checked the meter and it's obvious that the first reading was correct.
It's obviously an error but I have no faith at all that this will be quick to sort out. Am dreading BG putting our direct debit up to something absurd before we can get it solved.0 -
Just to update for anyone with the same problem. I used the chat on the BG website (when logged into my account) and they dealt with it very quickly. Within 24 hours the bill has been reissued and is nearly £1k less than the previous one. Hopefully that's the end of the issue.
It looks to me as if the 'last read on old billing system' might have been the projected usuage for the end of the next bill as it was a bit more than we used in the whole of last winter.
Hope that's helpful for the OP and anyone who has the same issue.2 -
BG seem to be in a complete muddle.I'm still on the old billing system with a non-smart E7 electricity meter, but presumably they're preparing for yhe changeover.Sent a reading at the end of September when the rates changed (had to use a form because the app was sulking or whatever) but it didn't get recorded so sent another reading via the app a day or two later.Sent end of month readings on 31 Oct when prompted by the app.Today the usage graph on the app shows estimated October usage as 204,002kWh...0
