The best easy access savings account - that you can have multiple of

Some on here have expressed confusion as to why I stick with Chase & their savings accounts when they pay 4.1% & you can get more elsewhere.

Different people, different requirements.

On the back of the how many accounts do you have post, I'm looking at slimming my banking down.
I have different pots of money I like to keep separate from each other. Quick example, I have an emergency savings pot (for if I get put out of work), a big holiday pot that we put some in to each month, an every day savings pot ... & there's just 3 examples.

Chase at the moment tick a box because I can just open up a savings account for each, they're all together under 1 umbrella (they don't go over 85k) & while not the best, the interest rate they're getting isn't the worst either.

Is there another provider that offers an account paying more than this that you can have multiple of?
What I'm looking at avoiding at this stage is having a different log in for each pot, or at least reducing the amount of log ins I have.

You can have 6 Tesco Internet Savers at 4.75%. Be prepared to open new accounts if rates rise though

If you're comfortable with app-only banking, then Zopa's Smart Saver would fit the bill. The rate (at 4.54%) isn't the highest, but it's quite a bit higher than Chase.

IIRC, you can open up to 20 individual 'pots' within the one Smart Saver account (so you just have the one account number) and you can boost the interest rate of any pot if you're willing to put a notice period on accessing the money within it.

One 5%+ account plus Excel (or free LibreOffice)?
It's not rocket science to split one amount into as many 'pots' as you want. Or vice versa - to combine several 'pots' into one balance. Just plus and minus. You don't even need multiplication and division, let alone exponents and logarithms.

For a smaller amount, Zopa ISA pots are now 5.08%.

Thanks, that'll do nicely. I'll take a look at some of those suggestions.

Nobody said it was rocket science. Unless someone did though & I've missed it, in which case you're quite right, it isn't rocket science, it's banking.

As we're all different with different needs, wants, requirements, whatever, you should respect that what suits you may not suit the next person.

I've been there & done what you suggest. Mine is a bit more complex than the norm though which I'll not go in to because it'll serve me no good here to do that. What I'm looking at these days is to minimise things.

And if that doesn't tick someone elses box then ho hum. It'll tick mine & that's all that matters.

Not bad if one wants to keep it in an ISA wrapper - but I've paid in to one this tax year.
    Thanks though.
  • Skipton Bonus saver 9 pays 5.04%
  • Ford Money Flexible Saver 4.95%  .  Can open multiple accounts and personalise the names on them.  Also offers Best Rate Guarantee even after you've opened your account ( so saves the need to open a new account to get a better rate ).  If interest rate decreases 30 day notice is given.  Text message sent when deposits are received.

I with the OP on not wanting all my "pots" combined together - regardless of how many fancy spreadsheets I had to keep track of everything. Aside from anything else, some of the pots need to be accessed by both of us, and some by just one of us - so that would mean some form of spreadsheet that we could both access. It would also mean that we would both  need to make sure the spreadsheet got updated each and every time money got shifted anywhere - and as we both fairly regularly do money shuffles when we are out and about, or simply in the middle of doing other things, it would almost certainly only take "so long" before transactions got missed.

Horses for courses - I can understand why the "all in one pot" approach might work for some people, but a bit like "a married couple must have all their finances thrown in together" it's not an approach that works for everyone.
