car insurance after 21 years driving a company car
what is the best way to get car insurance on a private car after 21 years driving a company car and getting them to recognise any no claims bonus ?
Online comparison sites ? or the old fashioned broker ? or direct with an insurer?
changing jobs very soon , car going back and I am buying a new(old) one

All of the above, same as everyone else. Most the aggregator websites like confused.com enable you to specify that the NCD comes from a company car and so the provider can decide if they give any value for that or quote it with 0 if they don't.2

If you go direct to an insurance company many will allow you an introductory NCB based on your company car history. In my case Aviva gave me four years.2

Photome, it was a real hassle, in old days most companies would accept company car NCD but i had get of formal letter from my company and then git it underwritten by the insurance company.1

When I did this switch, the insurer would accept a letter from an employer, but I think it was only worth one year.It was clear that it varies widely, but in my case it's not making much difference as I build up NCD. Adding business mileage (previously was just leisure and commuting) made a larger reduction in premium.1

You can often get an introductory offer which they then replicate into a NCD at the end of the year. Its not guaranteed but shopping around will hopefully find someone.
First step for me would be to get proof of driving history from your current employer / company car scheme.0 -

Never heard of that. You can get a letter from them typically that says the amount of unclaimed years. You are correct that some insurance companies may not accept this, however in my experience I've never had an issue.

I tried my HR for some kind of confirmation about my driving record but gave up waiting for them , ended up getting a half decent quote from a comparison site with zero NCD so went with that as I need insurance for Saturday , I was a bit late getting it organised
