New security measure from Monzo

Seems quite innovative, time will tell whether people use it.......or not

"If someone claims to be calling you from Monzo, you can check it's genuine or not in the app. Head to 'privacy and security' in settings by tapping your profile in the top left of the Home Screen. Your live call status shows if you're on the phone to Monzo or not"

I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Chase need’s verification via the app for the 19 months I’ve been with them.
Don’t get me wrong I love the feature, I wish all banks did it.

I'm obviously behind the times, first time I've come across it. I've had/got accounts with Barclays, Tesco, Metro, Kroo, Monzo and can't remember any of the others doing it.

I've been with Barclays for 20 years and I didn't know that.

Since last year at least, I think maybe longer tho. You call or they call you and ask you to pass security by logging in, clicking the bell in the app and then it shows you the name of the person you're connected with. You then approve/decline and that has the dual purpose of assuring you that you are connected with the bank, and for the bank to know they are talking to the right person.

It's good that they are doing something, bit I'm not sure how effective it will be. If someone thinks to check in the app then they would probably have hung up and phoned them Monzo directly. If they don't think to do that then they'll be carrying on talking anyway.

The Barclays system described above sounds better. I was surprised to hear that an old fashioned bank is doing something like that but it's good to hear they are getting themselves out of the stone age.
