Five years on - and I get an invoice relating to a driving 'issue' in Portugal.

tenchy said:Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but here's an update. I got my second letter today from the scummers and the invoiced amount has gone up from £19 to £21, with threat of debt collectors if I continue to ignore. These people are not only thieves, but incompetent ones at that. The original invoice had a due date of 21 November, but they've already reissued the invoice. The letter is now headed Charge Certificate as opposed to Penalty Charge Notice.
I mention this again because a relative of mine has also received one of these letters, and I believe the scam is quite widespread.
If anyone reading this has had one of these letters from EPC plc, please ignore it!0 -
Hi, I have had two of these letters now both dated 17th Dec 2023 even though one arrived today 05/02/2024. First letter asking for £118 and second £140. Due to unpaid tolls in Sept 2019. I am worried sick that if I continue to ignore and do nothing I will have Bailiffs on my doorstep. Please can someone alleviate my anxiety or advice what I should do please. Thanks

They are useless debt collectors not Bailiffs, unless you have been taken to court, lost and failed to pay they cannot send bailiffs around.

I've received a letter today for £39.16. I've checked and there are no outstanding debts on that registration. I won't be paying.

Received 'the letter' today for toll chargs incurred on 23/01/2019 and showing a photo of a car, can't remember if it was the hire car we had. Yes we were in Portugal at the time and could have been on the toll road. The car had an auto charge device fitted and i paid the toll charges to Sixt car rentals at Faro airport by card when the car was returned and i still have the payment details on file !! Bring it on EPC, lets go to court !!2
