Does it take a while for DWP to put docs on the system?

I applied for carers allowance and the documents got there last Friday, I know as I sent it tracked.
On Wednesday I get a letter from DWP containing half the things I sent them. They must have been scanned as the staple was removed.

I called today to check everything was okay because they only sent back half the forms, and was told that nothing is on the system and to wait another week.

Is this normal? They must have scanned them on Monday for me to get the stuff back on Wednesday. How long does this normally take? Guess I'm just concerned only half the stuff came back and why.

Yes, it's normal for documents to take a while to be scanned onto the system. What isn't normal is for DWP to return documents to you, this is why it's only advised to send copies.

Thanks, everything I sent were obvious print outs so it was odd to get them back but stranger still to only get half of what I sent to them 🤔
I'll call them next week and hopefully they are all on there and not lost 🤞

It can take a week for correspondence to be sorted, opened and then scanned to the system though I've read here and elsewhere about allowing 2 weeks to be on the safe side.

Thanks, it looks like they scanned it within 2 days of getting it but it isn't on the system yet. Maybe it's a different department who scan to the people who upload?
Hopefully all is as it should be and it's going to appear next week on the system 🤞

It's not even DWP who scan the documents - they use outside contractors at their two mail opening units, who simply scan everything and immediately return anything enclosed that they think they have to, such as payslips or bith / marriage certificates. . They don't actually read the mail - simply scan it in and staff at DWP will then be notified that it's there. .
  • Thanks all, that clears it up more. Trust DWP to make a paperless system so complicated 🤣
