System info utility

Options
A long time ago I used a utility which displayed the configuration of the computer along with list of software etc.  I can't for the life of me remember what it was.  Can anybody help?  Windows 10 OS.  Thanks.

I've finally found what I was looking for.  Belarc Advisor.

Do you need third party software for that? What information did you need?

You can find out details about the computer by pressing windows key + E (to bring up explorer), right clicking This PC and selecting properties. You can Copy to clipboard if you want to save it.

You can find out similar hardware details by pressing windows key + R (to bring up run), typing in 'dxdiag' (without quote marks) and pressing enter.

You can find view a list of software by pressing windows key + S (to bring up search, typing in programs and clicking 'add or remove programs'.
    Know what you don't

Just type System Information into the run box.  That'll give you what you need for the configuration.
The software can be found by Settings -> Apps and there's a list of your programs.

Having had a look at Belarc the report it generates is horribly confusing I have to say.

Belarc gives you much more information and more in depth that windows does.

    More information isn't necessarily better.

Speccy (it's not been updated for a while though), and HWInfo are two others to take look at.

I agree more is not necessarily better, but one of the things I wanted to see was the various software licences.  It's also nice to see everything without having to go through a number of processes.  Lazy I guess.

Many modern pieces of software (such as Office 2013 and later) don't use this method of software licence now, so as time time goes by you'll see diminishing returns in that section.  And indeed modern versions of Windows (particularly preloaded) don't use them at all due to digital activations.  I dare say other modern software may be the same.  Older versions of Office (2010 and earlier) okay it may show those, but Magical Jellybean Key Finder does the same job if you just wanted those licences, but again modern software diminishing returns.

Belarc does show some software licences, but these are usually pretty much useless.  I can see one for "Internet Explorer" and one for Powershell for example.  These come as part of Windows and don't require separate keys.

Thanks for all the input everybody.  I do use older versions of some software and Belarc has shown the licence key for those, so all is good.
