• Hi

I to get many of these emails, I just forward them to this website

spam@uce.gov

Not sure exactly what they do about it but I think they try to track down the original source.

Cheers

The best thing to do with these is to contact the bank from which the email was supposedly sent from, they usually ask you to forward the email to their fraud section so that they can shut the site down, there are people out there who will log on and give out their details without knowing it, it only takes about 5 minutes to do it, we used to get a lot through work.
Also if the email is from your bank and you are usure if it is actually from them open two windows on your browser, one with the link from the email, the other with the log in page for your bank which you have gone to yourself, if the web address are different then it's a phishing site.

General rule of thumb, never click on links on emails (if it involves you having to give security informaiton) .. always navigate to site using the address bar.

Lexxi, never click on a link in a possible phishing email! The sites they take you to can sometimes exploits security issues with your browser to install keystroke logging software and other nasty items. Just go to the real site of your bank without following any links in the email.

If you have been in the habit of following these links you should make sure that you have checked your computers for root kits and keyloggers.
• I agree - delete the email, never respond back to any of them as it verifies your email address to the fraudsters. Banks will never send you an email, asking you to link on from the there.

You can get further information from the the following (not sure if i can add this but they are for consumers. Under the FSA website, search for scams and swindles and there is a link to online fraud & Phishing. There are also a number of other websites on the side that maybe worth checking out.

I got an email from Nationwide the other day and i dont bank with them.

hope that helps

There's general info on this APACS sponsored site. Also they will collect / collate and take action if you send the Emails on to them. Saves looking up the varied links to Banks you have no normal connection with :-
