E-mails from Banks I have no connection with

I have received e-mails from both Egg and Nat West advising of new security arrangements and requesting me to log on for instructions. I have never contacted either of these and do not have accounts with them.
Has anyone else been contacted? Is there anything I should do? Both e-mails state they have been sent to me because I am a customer.

they are what is known as "phishing" sites

They're called 'phishing' Emails - and are from fraudsters trying to get bank details from you - in order they can raid your Bank account !!
So - just delete them. And if you get one from your 'own' bank ..... do the same with that, if it has a link in it. Because it will also be fraudulent. Always access your own Bank from data you store in 'favourites' .... never click on a link provided by someone else.
If you do online Banking - there must be a warning on their home page about this type of mail, surely???If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Thanks for all the advice. I don't do online banking so I was unaware of this. I recently opened an PayPal account so that I could use an e-bay seller to send a parcel to my daughter. Could they have got my e-mail address from this?:hello: N:hello:A :hello:N :hello:A :hello:M :hello:A :hello:G :hello:S :hello:0

I've had these phishing e-mails pretending to be just about every bank under the sun. I just delete them without even opening them.0

As well as banks, be aware that there are also phishing emails purportedly coming from PayPal. If the text of the email does not identify you individually, it will not be from PayPal.0 -
Yep these emails are :spam:
As an enthusiastic online bank user I only ever get genuine emails from them telling me my statements are ready (for CCs). In fact any email I ever get directs me towards their site. Most banks etc have their own online secure messaging system so they don't need to use emails except to issue this kind of basic info.
I do get other ones and just delete them without opening0 -
One thing I started doing was forwarding the phishing e-mails to the relevant bank for their fraud depts. If they have the e-mails they have a chance, if only small, to trace the source and stop the cheating b******s....every fraudulent spammer less is safer for the rest of us........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I've had a about 10 different ones of these in December at work (NHS). They do not seem to get through on our home email. I also sometimes forward them unopened to the bank's real security email address. I got one for which my computer prompted me that I might need Turkish to respond so forwarded that information as well to the relevant bank security.
