In an earlier post the OP said that they had not taken a deposit from the tenant.0 -

My SiL found a moonlight flit tenant on FB. "Delighted with new house" and posing with her daughter in her new school uniform. The Council wanted her for non-payment of CT too. Tenant owed a lot to my SiL and she was going through the motions to evict when tenant disappeared. I can't remember the outcome but next time I talk to SiL will ask.0

Just be pleased tenant departed without a long-drawn out court delay.

If you re-let after 2 days the council will only charge them 2 days tax won't they, And you can only charge them for 2 days rent and clearing costs?
Doesn't sound worth the bother this time, Charge a small deposit for cleaning and clearing in the future, you can even split it over 12 months can you not?1 -
Any "deposit" split over a number of payments is likely to be tricky, likely not a deposit as defined in law.0
