Slimlite double glazed windows - warranty

Hello all,
We had new Slimlite double glazed units installed approx 6/7 years ago. They came with a 10 year manufacturer warranty. The company Slimlite dissolved a few years ago yet sold it's trading/manufacturing rights and website to Sagars 365 Ltd. Historic Slimlite warranty claims are not accepted by Sagars.
One of these units have blown and has misted over. The carpentry company we purchased from is not able/willing to assist, perhaps they're not in a position to. I think the warranty would have been with the trade installer and Slimlite anyway, as opposed to the consumer. It's a bit confusing so advice appreciated, but presumably we're out of luck?
Thanks,
Jim

Unless it was a insurance backed warranty, there is no claim
Given the cost of a replacement unit. Ask a few local glazing co's you might be surprised on the cost of a new unit.Life in the slow lane1 -
I agree. I had a local company replace eight blown panes a couple of years ago and it came to about £700.0

Thanks for the replies, Interesting to hear that if a warranty/guarantee isn't insurance backed it's not worth anything if the trader closes. I'm in London and the cost for replacing a single pane of laminated glass a few years ago was approx £140. The Slimlite units have acoustic glass on the exterior and I've asked for an estimate from a local glazier. Lets see what they come back with.0
