HSBC Advance Account

Thinking about opening an account to take advantage of the switch offer but have a few questions
a) The terms of the Global Money Account say “use the Global Money debit card 5+ times” - can the card be used for GBP payments or do they need to be foreign currency?

b) Once the £205 has been paid into the account can you transfer it to the Advance account
c) Any idea when the offer will end (waiting for my TSB cashback to be paid)
Thanks

This explains what will be paid, how, and when. Seems there nothing quoted as to how long the offer is running for though.0

1) You need to use the Global Money debit card - GBP transactions appear to be fine according to the T&Cs
2) Yes
3) No current end date as far as I can see, but since the offer does not require a switch you can go today

Remember you can get £55 cashback through topcashback or £48 through Quidco for this offer too0

Well either there's an extra cashback offer from Quidco/HSBC with additional conditions or someone at Quidco has done a cut'n'paste from a previous offer and got it wrong.
Since the condition about holding a First Direct account contradicts the HSBC one my money's on the latter.
If you care then contact Quidco and ask (good luck).
There's a matching TopCashback offer and they seem to have managed to copy the HSBC T&Cs correctly and the cashback's another 7 quid.0 -

My wife and I both applied (separately) in October 2023 using this offer, but there was no contact after SMS text acknowledgements a few days later. We both followed up the applications in December (my wife rang twice) and HSBC apologised that human errors meant that neither application had been processed. 2024... still nothing, each of us chased our application again today. My application had "fallen off the queue" so HSBC says I'll need to re-apply! Yeah, right... the offer closed last year [complaint sent]. My wife's application was awaiting confirmation of her (correctly recorded) e-mail address since October but no-one actually contacted her or mentioned this during either of the December telephone chase-up calls [complaint sent].So, not a great advert for HSBC... both applications made nearly three months ago and neither has been processed.0

Update to my previous post... despite being told on the same day as I posted that her application would now proceed, she has been told today that her application in October 2023 has "expired" too. Worse, as we aren't customers she will have to make an appointment at our nearest HSBC branch (there isn't one in our town any more) if she wants to make a complaint!14-day "letters before County Court proceedings" from each of us are in the post, informing HSBC of our respective claims for £250 for unlawfully processing our personal data - if that sounds a lot, the Court of Appeal precedent, binding on all lower Courts - is Halliday v Creation Consumer Finance Ltd (CCF) [2013] EWCA Civ 333. Mr Halliday was awarded £750, wich was regarded as being at the lowest end of the scale for nominal damages and compensation for the distress caused by CCF for unlawfully processing his personal data.It seems very strange that this has happened to both of us, as our respective applications were made on different days - is this maladministration by HSBC widespread?
