0800 number not free?

I posted this on the 'arms' board where it was met with muted response.
am I the only one that thinks that this is wrong?

AN 0800 NUMBER THAT COSTS MONEY?

Check out the latest 118118 TV advert. (The one with the idiotic moustached twins) and read the text at the bottom of the screen.

(I think the number is 0800 389 1118. or similar.)

69p for a connection and 19p per min thereafter!!

SHOULD THIS BE ALLOWED?

Are you sure the text says this number is chargeable?

Maybe its warning 0800 numbers are chargeable if connected via the 118118 service?

I've not seen the advert to know, just guessing :-)

69p connection + 19p / min is for the 118 118 number, not for the 0800 number I would have thought.

Maybe the 0800 number is for customer services or something.

They offer a free DQ service on: 0800 118 3733 which from landlines is free to call. (It mentions you have to register online, you don't just let it go through it's spiel).
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Please check the advert tonight and see what you conclude.

It does appear to state quite clearly that you need to dial the 0800 number and that the charge is as stated. I have had to study the advert a few times to be sure.

Point of interest, if you dial ONLY 118118 does that get you put through?

    Hi Browntoa.

different number than the advert but check out the ad and see what you conclude from the text.

    confusing, I'd say.

The 0800 number in the ad is simply a freephone number for 118 customer service!
