Engine Light stays on with my 2017 Vauxhall Corsa

Hi Folks, my engine light stays on in my car. It drives great, but kind of shudders when idling. What could be causing this? and does anyone know the approx. cost of any repairs?

It could be far too many things to list, the engine warning light means there are issues from a mild misfire due to a dirty spark plug through to a timing belt/chain slippage that can result in the engine destroying itself. You need to get it diagnosed, you can either take it to a reputable garage, or you can buy an OBDII adapter and pull the error codes off yourself, though interpreting them might be hard if you do not know what you are looking for. You will also fail an MOT, so you need to get it sorted ahead of that.

As above, you need to get the fault codes read. Maybe you know someone with a reader who could do it for you.

Once you have that you would be best off asking on a Vauxhall forum for further help in diagnosing the likely issues based on the fault code(s)

No mention of engine type, but if its petrol coil pack failure on these is not uncommon.

It will result in what you are experiencing, engine light and lumpy running due to a misfire.

I had this before when the diagnostic machine showed up with no faults - took it to the garage and the issue was an electrical fault that was causing the light to stay on

    Normal for Vauxhall.
