Moving to octopus, when?
Options
Currently with BG for electricity, fixed until 30 November. Will be a shock coming off 20.22p kWh and 27.15SC
. So am I better waiting until December 1 to move across? (Gas is on standard variable with def, so can go anytime there).

Also, do I need smart meters to join octopus, or will they supply them n joining?

You don't need a smart meter to joing Octopus but some tariffs require them to take advantage of the cheaper rates.
Your current fix is very good so stay on it til it ends1 -
If gas is on standard variable move just gas to octopus now if you like? Then once the electric fix ends move that to octopus if you wish?1

I recently came off a 2 year tariff with Sainsbury’s which was 19.7p for electric with 24p sc. Gas was 3.84p with sc 26p.
I moved octopus and was moved over in 2 days. About a year ago I got Sainsbury’s to change my meters to smets 2 ones so I was ready to switch at the end of my fix. I have now moved to octopus go and it took 4 days total to move to this tariff. They say it can take up to 14 days to connect to your smart meters but it was like 3 days for me.
I now schedule everything to come one between 12:30am and 4:30am. Hopefully when I get the software updated on my EV I can move over to octopus intelligent and get even longer on the cheaper electric rate.1 -
Just joined last night and submitted both readings , joining on Dec.2nd
