My parents tried everything to get rid of it but would not move. They found out from the neighbors that the person my parents bought the house off had inherited it from from a family member, who had died in the bath tub and was there for over a week before anyone had noticed she was missing. The black ring was from the water line.0

For me, it was finding out that the bedroom floor had wet/dry rot and woodworm.Β The other floors in the bungalow were weyroc and covered in black mould.
I'd bought from a single older woman my age, I would never have done this to a person.Β Β
Although elderly and aged 14 the day after I had to have my beloved sheltie euthanised,Β I won't ever get over the fact that the mould had affected him.Β He had been coughing for months, and had a fungus in his nose when he died.Β ΒΒ£216 saved 24 October 20140 -

We bought a house from a lady with lots of children. I think six or perhaps eight. She was getting divorced because she had been caught having an affair. Obs she wasnβt pleased to be leaving her house. The house had long flat sewers. All of them were blocked and full to the top with disposable nappies. I think she had been flushing them down the loo. While we sat outside the house waiting for completion so we could pick up the keys we could smell the sewers. Β We lifted a manhole cover and rang a sewer company before we completed so we could flush the loo when we moved in. The house was quite battered by so many people living there.Β0

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Ours wasn't too bad, probably the worst was the condition of the outbuilding when I looked in there after getting the keys. We didn't bother looking in there when we had the viewing as the rest of the house was what we wanted, so a brick shed in the garden was quite low on the list of priorities.
I opened the door and found a couple of massive holes in the floor either side that I nearly stood in, then the wooden ceiling was hanging down. I left it like that and shoved all the garden stuff in there for 3 years until I finally got round to ripping it all out, replacing the floor and turning it into a bar. Now it gets used whenever we have people round and it's the best thing I did with it.0
