Magazine subscription I thought was cancelled and getting refunded

Hi All
I recently found out I had been paying for a magazine subscription via annual direct debit I thought I had cancelled.
I thought I had cancelled fairly soon after first subscribing. This was because it was online only and I found it really difficult to read from my devices. I tried to contact the magazine asking for advice on this with no reply.
When checking it online it looked like I had unsubscribed as it showed my expiry date and then an option to subscribe. I had also stopped receiving any emails since then from the magazine. Including any recent emails confirming my cancellation.
2 direct debit payments have been taken from my account since. I missed the first one but have contacted the publisher when the most recent one was taken requesting confirmation of my subscription status and requesting a refund. Since they’ve pointed out their terms and conditions it seems I am entitled to a refund of all three payments as I requested to cancel within the 30days when I initially subscribed.
The price of subscription has increased every year which I was told I should have received emails about which I didn’t. I would have also been regularly checking my spam box around this time so would be surprised if I had missed it. I have been refunded the latest payment as a gesture of good will but I am continuing to argue that I would like to be fully refunded due to the service not being adequate and it appearing that I had unsubscribed.
Any advice or pointers of things I may have missed will be fully appreciated!
