I couldn't do without my DVDs , from time to time I get a film or series or documentary (mostly films) in my mind and I know where it is and put it on. No hassle ( well rarely  :) )

Yes but usually you cherry pick the offerings with DVDs, and as a general rule if you have it on DVD you either really like the film/TV show, or it was dirt cheap in the first place to buy (or you were given it or whatever).

Netflix and Prime and Disney and whatever is just one massive library of stuff that you aren't interested in 95% of in the first place, so again you just cherry pick the offerings.

And of course if you have no internet connection for whatever reason streamers don't work.  DVDs don't need internet ;)

Are DVD players even worth having anymore though really? There is such an abundance available now on streaming platforms that DVD players have become obsolete? I know this is no help to solving your situation but just a thought.
It depends if you truly mean DVD (480i), Blu-Ray (1080p) or UHD Blu-Ray (4k)... Personally watching SD material on a big screen aint great so true DVDs have more or less gone from the house. At the other extreme UHD disks are notably better quality than streaming services and tends to come to physical media before streaming and so for top films I'd say it's just about worth it though we'll see if I feel the same when my current UHD player dies.

That is true. I have an Xbox that has a blue-ray player and I am sure PlayStation does too. But I never use it! Streaming is just so much easier

No, as I've said I only watch a couple a month so there can be years in between watching the same DVD. Often the DVD watching is triggered by something I've seen or heard in the media or just a memory. To be honest I don't buy many new ones maybe one or two a year.

you could consider format shifting - since you own the dvds you can rip them to .mp4 and probably store the whole collection on a usb stick !
