Dartford Crossing - Charged Without Making a Crossing!

Hi All,
Hoping theres some help here on this one as all I can find online and in these forums are peoples issues with a Dart Charge PCN, however mine is far more odd than that!
On the 3 October around 09:11 I received a text and email from Dart Charge that I had registered a crossing and they would automatically be debiting the standard £2.50 from my Dart Charge account. The problem with this is that I was no where near the crossing at this time as I had recently done the school walk and just returned home to begin work - I was literally stood in my kitchen as I received the notifications with my car on the drive!?
Similar to the Congestion Charge account you can setup a debit card and register your vehicle so you make payment immediately to not risk getting a PCN, however as mentioned I was nowhere near the crossing. On the portal I could see a crossing registered and see that it is only my vehicle registered on my account; the text specified my number plate but given they operate a camera based system they should be able to send my video "proof" of my vehicle making the crossing right...!?
I attempted to call them but was met with a message that I was 80-something in the queue, so I registered a complaint on the site and just got the automated "we'll get to your message as soon as possible" but since then have had no response. I emailed the customer services directly again today however I wonder who else this can be raised with, akin to the Financial Ombudsman with those types of matters. £2.50 is obviously a minor amount however it's the principle and more concerning that I (and possibly other drivers) are being incorrectly charged.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Call them and ask them to look at and send you the photos as this is a misread and not your car.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Agreed this was my first port of call, however I was over 80 places in the queue and after a few minutes it hadn't even budged - I imagine lots of people still try to pay it over the phone and tie up the line.
Guess I'll just have to jump on a call and leave it on while I work until there is an answer!0 -
Could your car number plate have been cloned?
