Hmm so just checked, and as dad is mum's carer, they are already Attendance Allowance. But, have been told that as they both claim the state pension they are not entitled to Attendance Allowance unfortunately.

I am not sure that is correct, but I don't know quite how it works for couples who both qualify for AA so do check again, your father can probably not continue as carer  to your mum so that may make a difference.

    best of luck.

Attendance allowance is for care needs for people of state pension age.  Unlike DLA/PIP which can be claimed before state pension age and can be claimed for care and mobility.

Agree - attendance allowance isn't means tested and off the top of my head I can't think why they wouldn't be eligible. Two people living together can both claim attendance allowance.
Are they thinking of Carer's allowance as it could affect any underlying entitlement if they were claiming this?

Do they maybe need help with a full benefits check?

For your own information (and possibly theirs depending on whether your dad would listen to a podcast) have you come across the movers and shakers one? Made by people living with Parkinson's including Jeremy Paxman about the issues and how they deal with them?
