As you are receiving DLA you would need to ask for your DLA claim to be reviewed. The criteria for the middle and higher rates of DLA care and the lower and higher rates of AA are basically the same. However, you need to be aware that a review of your DLA can lead to no award being made as well as a decision to either leave your DLA claim as it is or to increase it. If you are certain that you should be on a higher rate of DLA then you just need to phone DLA to start the review process. However, please be aware that if you lose your lower rate of DLA then you would need to claim AA in future (unless you successfully appeal the decision) and AA doesn't have an equivalent to the DLA lower care component.
