I place an order with Maplin elctronics online for one item at £49.99 with eight in stock. Paid by credit card and waited. Email confirmation of order then two days later confirmation of goods dispatched then waited. Two more days no goods and received a credit note. Checked credit card statement money had be taken . When rechecking small print of dispatch notice states lower down the item I ordered is discontinued even though it was confirmed. Contacted customer services to ask for money to be credited back to card and was told I need to send the credit note back first. Argued with them about there policy for not charging until dispatch etc but they are not interested or willing to credit back on line. So by the time they receive the credit note and refund the money I will have to wait till my next Credit card statement for the return of my money. A month's free credit to them.
Their website states no money taken until goods dispatched thats not true I have been charged , received no goods (the item is discontinued not on backorder) and I have received a credit note which I did not request and I cannot see in their terms & conditons where it states a credit note will be issued.
Bear this in mind when you order from them. See if you can find a complaints department or a policy for dealing with customers complaints. They are not the same caring company they used to be in my opinion.
