NCP "app only" carpark- app wouldnt, load, now home and no way to pay

NCP location in Liverpool.  Sign says "app only".  App wouldn't download/work properly.  Returned to car and there were a lot of "youths" smoking funny cigarettes and it's a very dark and dingey place so we got in and drove off quick.  Couple of hours later and trying to pay while sat at home.  Input the reg to ncp.co.uk and "no invoice found".
Try to use the app now I've managed to make it work and it asks me if I want the parking to start now.... in other words, no facility to pay retrospectively.

Looking at ncp.co.uk there's obviously no phone number, just an enquiry form and FAQs.  Now I'm SURE ncp wouldn't DELIBERATELY  make their systems close to impossible to use so they can bully people into paying ***fines*** would they?

Anyone know of a way out, I don't fancy another 3 year battle, even if I did give them a kicking in the end

  • Have you tried Plan A yet?
  • I've found a number for customer service, the woman who answered said "putting you through"... five minutes in and I'm still number 38 in the queue.... I wonder if everyone who calls is permanently "number 38 in the queue"....

hiya is that somewhere in the sticky notes?

  • Which "customer service"? Hopefully not NCP.

You don't "phone" anyone as whatever you are told isn't worth the paper it is written on.

Have you even got a PCN yet? Non-POFA?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • no I only parked there a couple of hours ago.  I'm just trying to pay.  I've just seen "You can pay for your parking up to 48 hours after exiting. You can Pay later online for your parking. Please note some of our ticketless car parks don’t offer Pay Later." on the website.

Yes I know ncp will be as awkward as hell, at this stage I just want to hear what they say... I'm down to number 21 in the queue after 25 minutes

OMG put the phone down immediately!

You will blow it if you say who was driving.

Stop panicking if you only found out that it was APP only when you parked and got to a sign in the car park that's an unfair term, and if you left pretty sharpish it probably never logged you into the system.
Wait and see don't contact them and certainly do not tell them who was driving.
  • see what you think of this - I got through in the end, I said the app didn't work, there were hooligans in the car park smoking (I didn't mention that they were talking in a language that might have tended to add to the average person's sense of alarm)
I gave them the reg but NOT a driver's name.  They went away and had a think, they came back and said "no charge" on this occasion and gave me a reference number
They actually said this particular car park has no cameras.  I suppose they rely on people's honesty using the app and a visit by an inspector?  Anyway I think I got lucky folks

They said they have no cameras there.
So you gave them your vehicle's registration number.
And they gave you a reference number.

Do you have a record of them saying 'no charge on this occasion'?
When you get their email saying that, then you will be safe.
They are going to email that confirmation, aren't they?

I wonder what will happen next.
