how would you feel.if you bought a radio, turned it on - no sound. On messaging the seller you get a reply that this is because the speaker is faulty but not to worry you can still.plug earphones in.

    Spares and repairs no question.
If the category was "spares and repairs" then it would be a more obvious selection but the category is "For Parts or Not Working"... no mention of it being partially working or repairable etc  @the_lunatic_is_in_my_head

    Thanks for the correction :)

Yes fully see where you coming from.

Sadly having listed an item as For Parts or Not Working, put not working in the title and both description boxes and still ended up with a returns request (thankfully outside the 30 days so was declined) I would do my best to cover myself and list it at the lowest possible ranking.

I think someone who wants to buy a laptop in such a condition will have an idea of it's value and what they are getting into, what you want to avoid are those who don't know what they are getting into and then cause you grief.

Are you sure that your associate's offer is such a poor deal?  It avoids all of the hassle of packing and sending and any risk of it going missing or being damaged in transit.  When you've taken off fees and postage to sell it online is there a great difference?

There is currently 1 for sale in the Not Working/For Parts for £899 or best offer stating it won't turn on/ dead graphics card (odd as it doesn't have a graphics card)

Sold prices range from £400 to £1,100 but I've not gone though each and every one to see what the faults were. The top one claimed "dead pixels" but also stated "not tested". The bottom one was bricked and listed as parts only.

They've offered £550 so personally think it is worth putting it online

Each to their own, but I'd bite their hand off.
It must be a fairly high-spec and recent laptop to be worth that kind of offer with a broken screen, but:
    • no fees
    • no time and hassle to pack and post
    • no risk of scam
    • no risk of un-erased data ending up anywhere dodgy

Maybe watch and see if the one at £900 actually sells quickly.
