Bank Account Switch Query

Hi all

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I couldn't find anything.

I opened a FirstDirect account and attempted to switch a Monese account in order to get the switching bonus. I was told that they cannot switch my account as Monese is not part of the switching service and was told to call FirstDirect in order to switch an account from another provider.

My question is: Can I open a new bank account now and then tell FirstDirect to switch that one? Or does the opening date of the account have to pre-date the FirstDirect account?

You can switch with a new account, it does not have to predate your FD account.
