EVRi parcel returned to me .. Somebody had added a new label to the parcel

Earlier this week I posted off an item to a buyer with EVRi
It was quite bulky, so I used a strong plastic bag, which my wife had recently received a delivery in.
I wrapped it up securely and made sure I hid all previous barcodes. At the front I stuck a large EVRi label, as well as a plain piece of white paper to hide the old label. A couple of other small sections of barcode, I covered in brown parcel tape.
Now, yesterday the item gets returned to me. Somebody (??) has somehow got a new label and stuck it on top of my label, with my wife’s shipping address.
I have explained to the buyer the delay and even tried to remove this new label. Underneath my original label is still present. The buyer just laughed it off and added the comment ‘EVRi are useless’
How do I proceed .. is there a way of contacting EVRi, or do I just stick the label I originally got on the parcel again and send it off.

You'll have to use (and pay for) a new label if you want to send it back to your buyer. But you should probably investigate why it's been returned to you, via the tracking information.
Have you checked the tracking of the original parcel number? What did it show?
The only times I've had a parcel returned are 1) if it's been lost and then discovered (this has happened once) or 2) if Evri have tried to deliver it three times, then they RTS and put a new label and barcode on (this has occurred a few times).
If the tracking shows that Evri attempted to deliver on three occasions but were unsuccessful, I'd be cancelling the sale, refunding and blocking the buyer.

OP here .. I started a complaint procedure with EVRi using their 'chat robot'
I gave all the information, as well as my contact details, so hopefully I'll hear shortly.
I'll probably just pay tomorrow for a new delivery, and then I can argue later with EVRi about perhaps getting a credit note .. just so I don't affect the buyer too much0 -
I would repack it. When reusing mailing bags, I often turn them inside out to ensure all previous information is hidden.2

The parcel has simply been returned to sender, as evri were unable to deliver it (for example they couldn't find address, or it was refused by the recipient, or something else)
I had one returned to me, it was refused by the shop it was sent to for click and collect. I asked why and they couldn't answer it but gave me a voucher to use for the amount I paid originally for postage1 -
It might also be worth checking that the address is correct - a surprising number of people don't seem to know their own addresses.Check it here

OP here .. I managed to get through to their customer services
The woman I spoke to was as puzzled as I was and was happy to refund my money. She seemed very helpful. She even told me to hang on the line until she had arranged the refund.
I bought a new label and sent it off again .. I put the already wrapped parcel inside another 'inside-out' bag .. just in case.0
