Why did it take me a week of hastle and numerous calls to my car insurance provider to finally get the GRC I paid for? Continually told I wasn't entitled to a courtesy car, but I didn't want a courtesy car, I wanted the GRC I had a paid policy for.

Bit more context needed ? If you managed to extract the GRC (Guaranteed Replacement Cost) out of them in a week you've done well0

Think they are meaning Guaranteed Replacement Car which is the marketing name a few brokers use for upgrading from getting a courtesy car if the garage has one and your car is repairable to getting a hire car irrespective if the car is repairable or not etc.Wonka_2 said:Bit more context needed ? It's one of those things that the industry hasn't landed on a single name for and different brands call it different things.
Your first point is correct though, much more information is required about both the policy and the claim. Looking at one random broker that uses the name I see the hire car cover is provided by a different insurer than the main Motor policy and so if the OP called up the actual insurer, rather than the broker, they probably would be totally unaware that the broker has sold a second policy alongside the Motor for a hire car.1
