Expensive Customer Service phone call

Just seems so unfair. It took me 2 months to get the refund of £120, only to be taken away because they gave me a US customer care phone number rather than the UK one. £120 - £87 = £33
Hotels.com customer service where awful and I have no intentions to ever use them again

It's your phone operator that sets how much it costs for you to call a toll-free US number.Basset said:Just seems so unfair. It took me 2 months to get the refund of £120, only to be taken away because they gave me a US customer care phone number rather than the UK one. £120 - £87 = £33

It's you that sets your monthly spend limit with your phone operator.
It's you that dialled a US number rather than asking if they had a UK one.
I'd...
1) Set a limit on your mobile account so you cannot run up big bills accidently
2) Speak to your operator and see if they'll do anything, be contrite and admit it's your fault rather than being on your soap box. As mentioned previous we got an over 50% discount when the Mrs made a similar mistake
3) If you do need to call overseas regularly, or even occasionally, get a VOIP service as it costs pennies to call the US from the UK with them0 -
But this is the crux of the matter - in this case 'them' seems to have been the US operation rather than the UK operation ?? When you booked did you book in USD - which if a UK property would have suggested you're not on the UK site ?Basset said:m-holland said:did you initially contact them through an online chat? Im guessing that you were talking to US part of hotels.com and not the UK part
Yes I first contacted them via an online chat0
