Hotel cancellation through Prestigia

I had a confirmation email from Prestigia about hotel booking. Received an email on the day of arrival that my reservation has not gone through and has been cancelled.I have received refund but I have had to pay for the extra cost on last minute booking at the destination. Do I have any rights to claim the extra costs I had to pay? Prestigia says nothing in there policy and can’t se anything on travel insurance.

    The company is based in Gibraltar, (with a Moroccan parent company) so it would be their legal system that applies. It appears on the face of it to be a breach of contract but often these booking agents have terms that say your actual contract is with the hotel, not them. As a general rule, Gibraltar appears to have a pretty poor legal system and as a result, has become home to endless dodgy timeshare companies. I have never heard of this company before, the latest reviews do not look promising but on the other hand, there are a lot of 5-star reviews, you can but ask....
