BG have a new system. I paid by monthly direct debit which has not transferred. The online help chat advisor told me to cancel the DD with my bank and set up a new one. There is nowhere on their site to do this! There must be thousands of customers with the same problem.

    I wouldn't cancel it, as they might charge you higher rates, for not having a direct debit in place.

    I'd wait a bit/month to see if they get things transferred across properly, keeping the money safely tucked away in an interest bearing bank account.

    With a direct debit, I thought the company / service had to set it up, it's not something you can do.

    Or consider switching to another utility company, if you're not on fixed tariff.

    I'm mid transfer as well, though hasn't got my payment history across yet, but does show my DD amount and date due.
    Do you not have the Manage Direct Debit link under Quick Links?

    I have just re-instigated my DD using chat on BG site and yes my DD now shows under quick links thanks #frugalmacdugal
