Top Cashback ripoff on insurance payout

Yet again they have turned down my claim,
this time when I bought a Go.Compare Car Insurance policy despite me following the
rules having been turned down on a previous high value purchase.
Strange how all my other cash backs are successful where the payout is in pennies
but when it is over £30 there is always a problem.
I'm now suspecting the insurance company
are the shysters, rolling out the same the same old excuse "retailer and their chosen network agency not identifying
TopCashback as the last referrer to this purchase".
My premium was only £160 in this instance, not surprising
they don't want to pay £30 odd back.
Don't base your buying decision on the promised cash back, they will find an
excuse not to pay you if your premium is low.

I also dispute your use of the term rip-off because Cashback is not guaranteed and it never has been guaranteed. What reason have they given for declining it?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
used top cashback a fair bit, the one time I had an issue I submitted a missing cashback claim and after a bit of dialogue it was sorted0

They roll this one out every time, despite me clearing my cache/cookies etc. before starting on a completely new quote. I comply with all the requirements and yet they fail to pay the promised cash back for using their system. I stand by the term "rip off" on those grounds.

My payment has just gone into the bank so no 'rip off'.0

Well done, but I bet your premium was more than £160. I just rechecked and I was supposed to get £42 cash back, no wonder they mysteriously lost all the tracking. I made 2 more insurance purchases in September and fully expect them to welsh on those, then I'll be off to trading standards with my evidence.

You have to remember that this is marketing budget, they pay various companies like MSE/MSM to advertise their product and give them commission for the sale. Sites like TopCashBack decided to spin the tables a bit and rather than pocket all the commission hand some of it over to the buyer. Terms can vary on if its the first referrer or the last referrer that gets the money, for insurance its generally the first.
If you go to random big website to buy something and decide to first of all click through from another route then by clearing your cookies/cache etc the website looses track its you. Insurance is different though, if you do a quote first via a different referrer, they then get all your details and don't need to rely on cookies or caches. When you come back a second time now with a TCB referrer even doing a new quote they can obviously see its the second (or more) quote you've done and so rightfully pay the fee to the first referrer.0 -

Obviously this isn't the first time you went to that website because it sounds like you've bought insurance through them previously. You're not going to get a cut of the referral fee every time you get a quote and take out insurance with them. Now, if you'd switched to a DIFFERENT insurer you should get the cashback, but it certainly sounds like you're using the same insurance company and hoping for a payout each time.
