How to tell if tyre sidewall is damaged from rubbing against kerb
I was doing a 3 point turn and scraped my alloy against the kerb (not bothered about the alloy) hard enough scrape the allow. Since the alloy was scraped the tyre side wall must've been as well. I'm worried it's damaged. Is there any way to tell? It looks fine and the tracking seems unaffected.
I'm just worried as I am soon due to drive down the M1 and go to a London airport for a holiday. A blow out would cause problems on top of the usual dangers. I'm wonder if I need to replace the tyre or it there is a way to check its road worthiness.
Thanks.

....is there any sign of damage?? If it looks OK, and is still inflated it should be fine.Perhaps you could post a picture??.."It's everybody's fault but mine...."1

Thanks, no sign of damage to the tyre, only the alloy. I will have a better look and take a photo tomorrow when it's light.0

How about taking it into KwikFit and asking them to have a look. I've always found them to be honest and not try to sell me tyres when it's not necessary. Or if you have another tyre supplier you trust you could go there and ask them to look.

As long as there are no cuts and no egg shaped bulges in the sidewall then in all likelihood it's fine.2

Tyres are amazing, they take loads of punishment.

Only if you fancy paying out for 2 new tyres, brakes and exhaust (that aren’t needed)*Cloth_of_Gold said:How about taking it into KwikFit and asking them to have a look.
