Student sold Life Insurance/CI cover
My son(20), has started his 2nd year at Uni, and signed a tenancy agreement for a student house with 3 friends. A few weeks ago, he was contacted by a 3rd party trying to sell him life insurance and/or critical illness cover. He also explained to me that despite saying on the call that he wanted time to think and speak to his parents, the agent pressed ahead, advising that he should set up the policy and could cancel later. The policy has been cancelled now but this was not a fun experience for him at all.
I wondered if any other parents have had their Uni age children targeted in this way as well? They are vulnerable, as they are young and new to all this stuff. It's scary for them.
I did insist I was sent a recording of the call and the agents responsible have accepted that aggressive sales tactics were used.
However the wider concern remains for me if University students are being targeted in this way, as they take out tenancy agreements for private Student accomodation.
Thanks.
