Sky re-connection question (urgent)

If I wish to re-connect to sky digital, do I have to sign up for another 12 month contract?? I only want it in for a month or 2 at most.

+ Is there a free fone number for sky? Telephoned them today using their 0870 number and after waiting in a cue, then getting transferred, I got cut off so was no further forward with my inquiry.

If you sign up again, you will definately have to sign up for another 12 month contract.

However - they do occasionaly have 'month by month' offers which I've seen, including £49 for a basic sky box and then you pay for a normal package.. but you pay £5 on top of the normal rate for the priviledge of not having a 12 month contract. Its not heavily advertised at all, in fact, I can't find it anywhere!

Look here for a freephone number: http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php
Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat.

  • Thanks. Have already got a sky box and dish, so don't need to have em installed.

Checked saynoto0870.. there was no freephone numbers.
  • Ok re-connected. Didn't give me any special offer.. not surprising since they probably guessed I've subscribed for over xmas. Charged me £36 (month in advance), so if I give them a months notice (say on 27th Jan .. when direct debit will be due) how much more will I owe Sky?

Do I have to stay subscribed to use a sky+ box?

    Thanks in advance.

Without subscription you get the 100+ free channels, but no recording function on the Sky+ without £10/month payment.

If you subscribe to any package you don't have to pay the £10/month recording fee.

I take it you were previously a subscriber, then decided to cancel and just watch the 100+ free channels, but now wish to resubscribe?

If so, unless anything has changed recently you can subscribe on a month by month basis and not held to a 12 months contract.

You get a load of rubbish on FreeSAT to be honest though and you don't get things that you get on Freeview such as E4, More4 and Dave.

True, but there's some good channels too FTA, soon E4 and More4 should switch to FTA too.

To use freeview, I'd need to upgrade my rooftop TV ariel (which, considering I live in rented accomodation) I'm not prepared to do. I also don't really watch TV much, I only wanted to re-subscribe for over the xmas period.

You'll probably find after analogue switch off, your current aerial will then be fine for digital.
