CIFAS 'VICTIM OF IMPERSONATION' Marked After Virgin Money Account Application

I applied for a Virgin Money current account, and two working days later, I was rejected. On the same day of the rejection, Virgin Money marked me as a "CIFAS VICTIM OF IMPERSONATION" without contacting me for identity verification or sending any related letters. They did this arbitrarily.
Upon discovering this, I immediately called them and informed them that the application was genuinely mine. I requested the removal of the CIFAS marker. However, during the phone call, they did not verify my identity and only mentioned that they would investigate.
Has anyone experienced being marked by Virgin Money under CIFAS? What is the process for having this marker removed? Do I need to send my original identification documents and address-related bills to Virgin Money to request the removal?
This is not my fault, but I have to bear the consequences. This marker has already affected me. Can anyone provide me with advice?

It sounds as if they are already sorting it out. If they don't, raise a complaint.
However, it will not negatively affect you, as it is there only for your protection and means lenders may make additional checks.1
