Universal Remote control for TV etc.

Hi,

I have a NEVO remote controller that controls my Panasonic TV, Pioneer tuner, Pioneer DVD and SKy Q box.  Unfortunately this is no longer working and I'm looking for a replacement universal controller that will operate all of the equipment from a single unit (i.e. one button switches everything on and off etc).

Any recommendations?  And is it possible to get a smartphone app to do this?

Thanks in advance.

All the items you list, and most TV-related items, use infra-red for control. Historically this was because IR is confined to the same room, so that when you change channels you do not also change channels on your next-door neighbour's TV.

Some, but very few, smartphones have an IR transmitter. No iphones *do.

    What smartphone do you have?

*I believe there are some IRblasters available which can be plugged into some iphones

Some devices can be controlled if the device is connected to your network and you download a remote control app on your phone

Unless you have smashed the remote , it usually can be fixed by stripping it down and giving it a good clean and checking the battery contacts using sandpaper to clean them if necessary

Most remote control faults are caused by spillages

You can also check if its working by pointing it at your phones camera and using that to see if the IR led lights up when you press a button

My smartphone is a Xiaomi 11 and my wife has an iPhone (fairly old model but will get upgraded this Christmas!).  I've looked at One For All universal controllers that seem to do the trick but if I could control everything from the phone then that would seem to be a better way forward.  One less thing to lose.
