Scared me for a minute there because I just signed again where he told me to! Have checked my copy of new signed docs and all OK. Waiting to hear whether or not it's gone through, but at least they didn't stop me taking car away!Bigwheels1111 said:Make sure they have not changed anything in the contract.ie rate, term etc before you sign.0 -

My change of car done last month was all done online by dealer. Although they did ask for my email address so I got confirmation of change of owner of both old & new car.jlfrs01 said:
I should have been more specific:Car_54 said:
NB the V5C has absolutely nothing to do with ownership, and says so in large red print at the top of page 1.Changing the registered keeper to a dealer
If the transfer involves selling to a car dealer, then the process will require both parties to sign section 9 of the V5C certificate, also known as the V5C/3. At this point, the dealer will take possession of the V5C.
The dealer then notifies the DVLA of the change of ownership, and the seller should receive an acknowledgement within four weeks.
So no sig required at all, just sight of the V5 & it's reference.Life in the slow lane0 -
You'll be absolutely fine. This exact thing happened to me once - albeit, err, it was 30 years ago.
Go in - re-sign, with some ID, job done.
I can't remember I last signed a financial agreement using actual wet ink - it's all digital these days with photo or video FSCs on your mobile so no need for a wet signature.0 -

You just type in your name. No signature, just an FSC.Wonka_2 said:

When I bought my car last month I had to sign (not type) electronically using my computer mouse on the screen - took me about 5/6 attempts to get something remotely similar to my signature. Then had to sign in the dealership on an iPad with a ipencil, which was easier.WellKnownSid said:

The last few business contracts I've signed have also needed full electronic signatures rather than typed name, so perhaps that's where it's all heading.

I suspect it is. A digital squiggle on a tablet or computer is pretty meaningless. Could be anyone.ComicGeek said:

I've had issues with signatures not matching due to arthritis. They are a useless way to verify identity.
