Don't want my laptop to overheat, currently put a large flat table mat underneath, anyone recommend a good tray to keep it cool?

Your laptop is more likely to overheat from dust build-up than anything you put it on, assuming you don't leave it on the bed or similar and block all the vents up.1

I bought this and it does a pretty good job of allowing my laptop to not overheat

I have a laptop cusion tray that my daughter bought me. I'm not sure where it came from but it stops my laptop from overheating. There are versions available on eBay, but I can't see the exact one that I have. I searched for "laptop cusion tray".The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

If it's actually on your lap (or bed, or ...) then what you want is not the type above but a "laptop dinner tray".That's a large tray with a bean bag underneath it, something like thisPS. If your laptop is getting hot then it probably needs the fan vents cleaning. Use a soft brush, if it's bad then you may need to open the case up and clear the dust from the inside as well. Note that some laptops do run hotter than others. One of mine is an old Toshiba Tecra which blows a stream of pretty warm air out the side, they were known for it.

There are laptop trays out there with inbuilt fans that are powered off your laptop , of course using one will drain your battery quicker1
