birmingham airport booking/ new flight time

Hi, I have a new later birmingham  return flight time from Barbados which leaves me on paper with 35minutes to clear customs etc and exit NCP 1. Is this doable? , and does anyone know what the charges are are for being a few minutes late?
Am booked with FHR and probably contact support later as I cannot find how you amend a booking online.?
thanks

If the later arrival doesn't take you into another 24 hour period there shouldn't be an issue.  Car parks seem to be booked by the 24 hour period in my experience.

In theory it should be fine, if you can get off the plane quickly. Flights arrive early too, plus your flight is likely to get a jetbridge which will take you straight into the terminal and no need to wait for the bus.

If push comes to shove and time was getting short could one of you go and get the car out whilst the other waits for the bags at baggage reclaim?  The only issue would be if you have brought goods back and the one person gets dragged in for a check with all your bags, they likely wouldnt account for the 2nd person who had already left the airport and they would assess based on one person (so only 200 fags allowed etc)

The last time we came back into Birmingham it took quite a while to get through immigration (is this what you mean by 'customs'?)
And then we had to wait quite a while at baggage reclaim.
I wouldn't say that 35 minutes to deplane, pass immigration, regain your baggage and exit the car park is doable.
I'd be looking at the T&C's of the car park for later arrivals than planned.

if 1 person collects the car first how is the other going to put the bags into it without incuring extra charges?

  • Had thought about collecting car first but......
As says Tellit01 the parking charge is hopefully per day and not per hour, will have to check with fdr  booking agency
    thanks all

I emailed FHR and this is their response,

"To change your times, would reprice the booking to a higher amount.

This car park offers a 3 hour grace period before your booked arrival and a 3 hour grace period after your booked return time, so it not necessary to amend on this occasion.

You have up till 24 hours before you travel to cancel your booking and receive a full refund.

If you have any further queries then please email this address"

Not easily, but driving around for a bit and then returning to the airport and paying the drop off/pick up charge might be cheaper than the overstay charge.

There is also a free collection area over at Birmingham International train station the OP could make his way to if the person he is with picked him up there, nip on the monorail thing.

In any case looks like he gets 3 hours grace so all this is moot anyway.

I always book airport parking to end at 23.45 regardless of when I expect to land.

Thanks for the info about the 3 hours grace, as I got back at 11.00 pm a few weeks ago and was a bit concerned that I wouldn't get out in time.

You are likely adding an extra day onto you parking for no reason then in some cases. Airport parking works in 24 hour blocks, and not by day.
