DWP have developed a digital tool to carry out the TP calculation, but it requires an agent to input the details etc.

The most common reasons for people to get a transitional element despite being entitled to a similar or greater amount on UC is when they are a carer, or if they pay rent (but were not on Housing Benefit).
I not a carer and no housing/rent element on either claim. My UC calculation just shows Standard Allowance, Children, and Transitional Protection elements.

    Right, ok!

Last try: were the income figures which were used by HMRC prior to migration (i.e., the figures on your most recent award notice from tax credits before they stopped paying you - not the income figures on the finalisation notice you received after you'd claimed UC) much higher than your actual monthly income now?

@Yamor - It is interesting to see someone else is receiving more than they think they should and yes I have the same problem regards setting money aside due to amount. @ElwoodBlues For me I asked and tried to refuse the money but have been told it is correct and it has been checked and is still correct. So as I need the amount I believe I should get I accept their payment. It still does not take away the fear each month of the demand of repayment.

My gross income has increased, but yes my net income has reduced quite a bit because I've increased pension contributions through employer (hit mid 40's and panicked that I've not made any retirement/pension provision until now).

I've tried putting various income figures into benefits calculator (Entitled To), but nothing seems to increase my entitlement (either under TC or UC) to the level that the TP element is bringing things up to.

Ok. Don't really know what it could be then.

If you do want us to (attempt to) work out what they've done, you can post up anonymised versions of the last tax credits award notice you received BEFORE claiming UC, and a copy of your first payment statement from UC.

    Only if you want though...
